Small business owners who want to rebuild in Minneapolis are first hit with huge bills just to haul away the debris left when "peaceful protesters" burned down their businesses. Large areas will look like war zones for the foreseeable future. This is Joe Biden's America.

Guys...Elon having a positive perception from the right is a good thing. The right, which wasn't particularly interested in EVs, are now looking into them (not all people on the right but definitely more than if Elon wasn't outspoken about things they cared about).
Not true, but I doubt you'd care about the data and prospects for future car sales as people of a certain political persuasion start accelerating adoption simply because they have someone that they trust and want to support competing in the space. And more car manufacturers are entering the space? Awesome; that's partially due to Tesla eating their lunch.
Just another example of why we shouldn't politicize important topics and demonize people for thinking a certain way. Political divide and demonizing the 'other side' isn't productive at all.

“Get your own platform then” lol. The liberal hysteria meltdown is about to ensue. Elon is doing the world a favor here. Big tech censorship is harmful to society and has to be checked

I am actively in the market for an EV and am deliberately excluding Tesla from my search.
The conservative response to this thread practically writes itself - “liberals try to cANcEL Musk because they love censorship.”
C’mon folks, don’t disappoint us, come tell us how we’re fascist communists for not buying Teslas!
Hey SA1, the Fed prints money, not Biden.
Too late. I already went from a Tesla fanboy early on to both unenthusied about the current product (very high rate of defects, dropping customer satisfaction, unhinged promises about self driving capabilities that are flat out unsafe to use) and an absolute never from a brand image standpoint -- Tesla is now super cringe thanks to Musk's ever evolving idiocy.
The competition is catching up or, in some cases, already blown Tesla out of the water, such as the Lucid Air. Way out of my price range (180k) but their tech will scale to more mass offerings in the near future.
Letting Trump back on Twitter -- whose coup attempt hasn't even ended, it is forever ongoing! -- would for sure be frighteningly wrong in principle. In practicality, he's both won and lost close elections with a Twitter account so you can't be confident the political/practical difference would be definitive either way. I personally believe strongly such a move would help legitimize his disinformation campaign laying the groundwork to steal the 2024 election if he loses. Hell, he's currently endorsing a slate of candidates promising to "decertify" the last election and "reinstate" Trump NOW. It's an active insurrection attacking democracy from all angles and doesn't belong in the "marketplace of ideas" or "public square" -- it/he belongs in prison.
If he does that then I will exclusively buy Teslas for the rest of my life. Getting trump back on twitter might be the only thing to save us from Trump winning again in 2024.
The fact is trump tweeting helps democrats.
So it's a wash???

I also went from Tesla fanboy to unenthusiastic because of Elon. He doesn’t strike me as a serious person and it definitely doesn’t look like he’s paying a ton of attention to defects and customer issues with the cars. Why would i trust my family’s life to a car where the boss shows you every day how unfocused on the product he is?
My reluctance to buy a Tesla has nothing to do with the latest Twitter drama.

I think I'm with you in spirit, but I get the impression that Musk is more familiar with the product than most automaker CEOs are with theirs.
So far Teslas have been relatively safe.
I don't think Elon is as intelligent as parts of the media portray him and he's pretty unhinged, but he obsessed over the product to get it where it is and the safety record is measured objectively.
I still wouldn't buy a Tesla if Musk becomes a shill for fascists.
I have a Tesla, I have always despised Elon. I will continue to despise him. I bought it because of the autopilot, honestly worth giving money to that jackass to help make my commutes more productive.
SA1: Do you read your own posts? No woke fragility here. Just acknowledgement his cars aren't as high quality as they used to be and there are better options to consider.
I really do worry about free speech absolutism. Even Antonin Scalia was against the idea.
Scalia's views are so offensive to most Americans that it's best not to raise them here.
Teslas are cool looking, but the overlording by corporate is concerning (people having features shut off, etc.) and the low quality of the products have been well documented.

Umm adding a former president to an open sourced social media platform is not a good reason even by leftists standards to not support the ev revolution

Tesla is 5 years ahead of their closest competitor in terms of battery technology and production capacity. Retooling existing facilities that produce ICE’s is incredibly cost intensive and difficult. No one else is remotely close to “taking over.” Additionally, no other company is innovating self driving or charging networks at the pace and scale Tesla is. Sounds like you haven’t really done any research

I still want a Tesla

I would, were I in the market, as well.
Their lead is rapidly diminishing, but they're still great cars

Only a matter of time before libs cancel Tesla and vandalize them any chance they get

I don't really care about the twitter thing because I didn't use it before and I won't use it now.
However I do find it interesting how common it's becoming to see a certain type of person go from courting woke audiences to turn themselves into a celebrity, to then complaining about being criticized by those same woke audiences when they act like a shitty person, to running into the embrace of the alt-right freeze peach crowd so they can still get smoke blown up their ass while being a shitty person.
It would be funny if Musk was doing a WWE heel turn to make EVs more appealing to conservatives. Got to increase that market.
