If I’m at a very small boutique firm with slow work flow, how necessary is a two-weeks notice?
I feel like I’ll be doing it out of professionalism, but in the two week span I do not plan on doing any work save for finishing small matters…

Give the notice and use the time to put together a good file list detailing where all your cases are at. It’s a small world, and I’m running into people I worked with 10-20 years ago who like me because I was professional in my dealings with them, including with how I left positions. It’s worth it not to burn bridges.

Third this. Preserve the relationship. Leave on good terms if you can. Your career is long. You never know who you will see again, or where.

You should absolutely give your two weeks notice and let them decide whether to keep you on or not (some firms let you go immediately after giving notice). The last two weeks at my prior firm were glorious; little to no work with all the pay lol

like

I guess I’ll let them decide

When I left my last firm I was not sure what to expect. I said it can be two weeks or it can be longer if that’s easier for you all. Worked out a six-month wind down and it worked out great for everyone.

I'm in a litigation, about 9 months in. Is it normal that I spend majority of my time making bundles for my partners (printing, binding, moving docs in a different order whenever there are new documents or he wants to add stuff) reviewing documents and making tables (e.g. dates, which documents are from where), and the only legal work is like notices of admission, list of documents, the occasional research? I'm so bored and I want to quit but I don't know if I have unrealistic expectations.
