I'm a little south of Tampa, but this has pretty much been my experience as well. I've been ghosted more times than I've been asked to come in for additional interview rounds. I don't have any real advice since I'm facing the same thing other than to be really skeptical about submitting test assignments. I feel like companies are taking advantage of job seekers to get free work done and would want to make sure that wasn't going to be the case before spending my time on a sample assignment. Check the Glassdoor reviews of any company that asks for this kind of thing. If you see a lot of people mentioning it being required and not leading to offers, I wouldn't waste my time.
Thanks! So I am not alone,
I'm not in the Tampa Bay area, but this has been my experience as well. A lot of first and second round interviews, not a lot of job offers. It does make me wonder if there is something sketchy going on.
It's just weird.
