What sites/tools do you use to create and maintain your portfolio site?

Anyone deal with this before: I inherited a severely under developed team including a sr analyst who clearly was doing the bare minimum, if that. Over the last 6 months I have had to coach him and correct simple mistakes in his work and recently it got so bad that I told him he would receive a low rating in his evaluation. He lashed out, involved HR saying he doesn’t understand why, and now my review points out stuff that I would have let slide.

Been with my current company 5 years now. I run my own team but have a micromanaging boss who likes to create chaos for me. He also exhibits stalker like behavior by looking up my family online (addresses, emails, phone numbers, FB/Twitter accounts, you name it) and driving by my house and commenting on things I was doing during the weekend or after work. I am fed up with it and am starting to apply elsewhere. I don’t think I’ll be able to get the same total comp though. More in comments..

Question! I just moved(transferred) to another team of my company and received new title, graphic & creative services. I was a senior graphic designer at the previous team. I wanted to share that I am in my first job as ui/ux expert and I am the only ux/ui person in the team. I am expected to take care of entire research and design of the product. It becomes very overwhelming as the product that I am working on is in a early phase and I am expected to think about ui as well as ux and also design entire app on my own.There is no user interview or user testing happening as my project manager thinks it can be done after product is launched. Please help!

Do you think you are able to get strong portfolios out of the work? Do you think it would help you career? Asking as someone considering to move from in-house to a consultancy.

How do you know you’re a good designer? I get most of my ideas from being inspired by other work and just creating what I feel looks good. I know how to use design programs. But, I don’t know if that’s enough.
