Hi all, recently in touch by Spotify recruiter for a Sec Engineer position for remote EU and was told that range was 60-80 out of base salary and equity. Had 2 years of security experience out of my 4 years. Was also told that there is no bonus scheme or no sign in bonus 😕 Not sure how I feel about this tbh.

If it’s only slightly better, what is motivating you to do it? There is a cost involved and leaving everything you know behind has to be worth it. Doesn’t exactly sound like adventure or career growth in a meaningful way. I have moved countries twice and there are things you don’t even consider until you get there!
True. The things that you hardly notice like support as it’s always been there have to be rebuilt. Move if your “ why “ is strong
Sometimes, holding onto what you love is the best move. If you’re not actually dissatisfied, there’s no rush to make a big leap; opportunities will come again. Trust your gut—if it doesn’t feel right just yet, that’s a valid answer.
Yes do it Alan
I grew up in sydney. Moved away a few times (hell, I'm away now) and keep moving back. Don't underestimate the value of community and family that you've built up there.
I'm not saying don't explore - but there's a lot of expense and cost to you to uproot your life.
So a slight salary increase as the ONLY motivating factor? I'd say don't do it.
If you want to explore, then do it because you want to explore - not because of the salary. Not every decision in life has to make sense from a fiscal responsibility standpoint, but you should be open and honest about why you're moving if you want to make the most of it. 😊
I’m not Australian, but I have moved multiple times in my life for my career. I’m also married an Aussie who has always lived in the same 5 km radius, so I understand the inertia to stay in Sydney.
I, personally, would only move if it was the job (or love) of a lifetime. Perth is expensive now, and has very few other opportunities if this one doesn’t last forever. Plus you are fighting the “no new friends” mindset of many Aussies that will likely leave you homesick.
I’d take this as a sign to start applying to advance your career in Sydney. That would be the best of both worlds.
Perth, from a professional standpoint is a a backward step in certain sectors. Check what people think of it and take this into consideration
A friend of mine did this, but we're in Melbourne.
She found WA's social norms and just... culture... really isolating and was lonely. She loved the job she moved for, but came back to Melbourne.
I could probably move interstate to Sydney or Canberra, but wouldn't go anywhere else... just the wrong culture fit for me.
