Get an Amex aspire to accelerate Hilton benefits
30 minutes of unnecessary travel time one way isn’t worth it to me- I’d take the place with a shorter daily travel time.
First, I think we need to wait and see on travel still. I would switch to Hilton for the time being - through their credit credit card, you automatically get their highest published tier of status (it’s about $400/year).
I would. There’s a good chance that your Marriott rolls over to next year anyway depending on how they handle the covid situation. Personally, I think a better option would be if your firm has a long term assignment policy. You can get a furnished apartment for less than hotels and keep all of your stuff there during the project.
There’s certainly merit to those arguments. I suppose it depends on your personality and place in life. Personally I don’t travel much personally and I value being able to have a stocked refrigerator and cook my own meals.
Define “decent.”
I’ve had absolutely fine stays at many Fairfield Inns. But if you feel like you’ll be much happier staying at one of the Hilton properties than do that. You can probably swing a status match from them pretty easily if you’ve never done one before.
Watch yourself in Wooster
Wooster isn’t that bad. I live 30min away and they have a great College there. It’s an agricultural area, but they have a great little downtown. Akron and Cleveland are not too far away. If you need a Wooster brush for painting, you’re in the right place! 🤣
A Fairfield Inn isn’t that much worse than a Hilton Garden Inn, in my mind. I’d probably suck it up and stay Marriott. But depends what happens with the COVID situation and how that affects status.
