I have been given a verbal offer of 145k base for a Sr. Associate role as Data Analytics Lead. The offer doesn’t come with any kind of bonuses or stocks.
I have a Masters and 5+ years of exp and my current comp is 115.5k + approx 5k bonus + ~20k in stocks (yearly refreshes) which makes my total current comp to 140k.
Is it worth taking the offer for increase in just the base?
What are my chances of negotiating into a VP level role with at-least 155k?

Here’s an animated chart that shows how COVID-19 cases and deaths have grown globally compared to their causes of death like fire, influenza, and malaria over the same time frame. The timeline begins on January 1, 2020, and COVID-19 starts at the very bottom of the chart with zero deaths.

Do you have an EU passport? If not how did you navigate the EU travel ban? Or did you go somewhere other than the EU?
Yes, both myself and my friend are US/EU dual citizens, and we traveled back on our EU passports. She had a nonstop and I was connecting; I was not asked if I was connecting onwards during my layover when I entered the Shengen zone.
On a related note, both of us put in our Global Entry KTN tied to our US passports and still got precheck as well on the outbound flight from the US, despite the reservations being registered under the EU passport.
Edit: To clarify, we are both responsible people and neither of us are using our dual passports here for fun/vacation; both of us decided to leave the US and so this is a one-way journey.
Thanks for starting this AMA thread. Curious, was it the work opportunities, family, quality of life, cost of healthcare, or other that had prompted this move?
Quality of life was a definite one. We both took pay cuts to make this move, but negotiated hard and ended up only with ~20% cut, and COL calculator shows we’ll end out ahead anyway. However, we both negotiated promotions during the move. Neither of us went to a member firm or branch of our current firm due to the hiring freeze, but both of us got offers at competitors (that neither of us took). On a related note, neither of us really buys into the obsession that consulting in the US has for working absurd hours and constantly chasing faster promos and more $$$, and this was a motivation too.
A second major reason related to healthcare is the COVID situation. I don’t think I have to explain the differences on how that’s been handled in the US vs literally anywhere else in the world. Life is as normal in our destination countries and the daily case count is absurdly low. This handling of the situation is heavily tied to the next reason.
Finally, a huge reason was the degradation of the political situation in the US over the last 4 years. Unlike others on visa, both of us are US citizens and can stay. Neither of us feel welcome here or want to stay in a place where colleagues and friends are being forced out and living at the whims of a president who can best be described as mentally ill. My intent is not to get political here, but outside the US there is really no debate when it comes to whether smart decisions are being made in the US or not under current leadership.
In essence, we are both leaving for factors that boil down to improved quality of life, which we know we will find as we have both lived in the destination countries before. We both decided we value other things in life more than money.
You guys Lucky AF. We still gotta deal with the most stupidest administration led by a buffoon.
Happy for both you, Wish I could make the same move.
Mind sharing destination countries?
Hoping for the best for all of you still over there...
Destinations were in the UK and one of the Scandinavian countries.
