Agree, also I’m happy to support her as a black woman but I’m starting to hate this expectation that black are supposed to get her elected all by ourselves, shouldn’t Indian women be going hard for her as well???
Indian women are having a zoom call tonight, just like the other groups.
Cause she’s black. Mom raised her black. She went to Howard. She’s an AKA. People perceive and treat her as black.
Also her being part Indian is absolutely mentioned.
It’s weird to me too. The American media is so used to labeling people as Black when they’re “mixed” with Caucasian, that they view Blackness as the leading ethnic identifier. People online are also predominantly saying Black woman as though her Indian side doesn’t exist, and she was raised by her Indian mother. It’s sad they’re erasing her heritage. My Indian friends proudly call her Kamala Auntie though!
Conflict and division are what the media wants to sell us sadly. And black vs. white is the oldest and easiest way to do that. Other races are ignored in so many topics, so why not continue to do so. Hopefully as we continue to push back things change.
People still latch onto that one drop rule.
Pro
I’ve seen both mentioned.
You are what people perceive you as. She is perceived as black . The End
Not just her, but it seems like anyone mixed with black is referred to as just black....
Unless you’re Amber Rose 😂
Because she led with that. Have you not seen her first videos when Biden came in office. It’s all over the media. She led with being Indian/ South Asian now she’s saying she’s black. So yes now they are leading with black because like most democrats they need the black votes.
