I’m getting married next year, and the planning process is taking up some time during business hours - appointments, calls, emails, you name it. Do you think it’s better to keep this under wraps, or should I just be upfront to my boss and coworkers about needing to step away occasionally for such a significant personal event?

Honestly, it's nobody's business. You're an employee, not a robot. We all have stuff that bleeds into our work time, the same way that work bleeds into our personal time sometimes. I wouldn't worry about it, unless it's significantly impacting your ability to do your job.

Yeah you're right. As long as the job’s getting done, there’s no need to feel guilty about taking a little time for something as big as a wedding.

As long as you are doing your job and meeting your expectations, I wouldn't worry about it! Congratulations!

Thank you!

I personally would try to limit the non-work-related communications for your lunch hour if at all possible. I know firsthand how extensive wedding planning gets, but you don't want to get caught doing it and risk your job or credibility. Obviously, you know your work atmosphere better than we do but just use good judgement. Congrats btw!

Thank you! That’s great advice - I’ll try to keep most of it to lunch breaks and be mindful of the timing. The tricky part is that some places don’t take calls during lunch either, which can be frustrating. But I definitely want to stay respectful of work while juggling everything.

Honestly, do what works for you! As long as it's not interfering with your work and you're still hitting your goals, there’s no reason not to take the time you need for personal stuff like wedding planning. Life happens! At the end of the day, it’s your life, and as long as your performance doesn’t drop, you should be fine to take care of your personal needs!

Totally agree - life doesn’t stop just because we’re working!

I would. I'd try to keep everything outside of working hours if at all possible. I know that wedding planning can be all-consuming, but I doubt my boss (or yours) would be okay with me leaving my desk to give my wedding planner a call.

That's a fair point!

I personally would keep it to myself if I were you! Best to keep work and personal life separate. If you are doing your job and getting the work done then there’s nothing to have to explain :)

That makes sense. If the work’s getting done, there’s probably no need to bring it up. Thank you!

No need to mention it, just do what you need to as long as it doesn’t impact your woke

Hi Fishes,

I have applied to one of the roles about 10 days back and I didn't recieve any calls regarding my screening or interview.

Can someone tell me how many days does it take for the initial screening to happen after applying.

Also, how much time will it take for all the process to happen ( screening + interview + final discussion).

Thanks in advance

Hey Fishes,

Joined LTI recently in P3 band. However not allocated any project. Got a call from the resource management team to relocate, which I rejected upfront as I was promised a role in the location I am posted. It has been over 2 weeks since I am in bench. What shall be the next steps, shall I wait for some days or start looking for other jobs as getting a project looks difficult as there are minimalist responses.

I have a friend who told me he sought treatment for alcohol abuse 6 mo ago. We talk a lot and I try not to judge or ask too many questions about his progress, just wanting to be a supportive friend who doesn’t pressure him. Today I brought him to a very laid back picnic… there was drinking but plenty of non-alcoholic alternatives, and it was a very chill group. Toward the end of the day I noticed him drink something. Should I have confronted and stopped him? Should I bring it up now? Guilty now
