Yes, they also get so much more flexibility.

Yeah, flexibility can sometimes feel lopsided. I think the bigger issue is making sure that everyone—parents or not—has some degree of flexibility and support, so the load doesn’t always fall to the same people.
I'm a mom myself, and I can sympathize with your sentiment. I'm lucky to be accommodated when my kid is sick and I have to leave early to get them from school. I get how unfair it looks, but I always make up for that by getting caught up on work after hours so my team isn't left footing the bill. And trust me, if given the choice, every mother would much rather stay at work than have to leave early to play nurse to a hurting kid. It sucks.

I appreciate your perspective. It’s a good reminder that what looks like a “perk” from the outside is usually really stressful on the inside. Making up work after hours is tough, and I think many people don’t realize that parents often still pay the cost one way or another.

I get where you’re coming from—it can feel frustrating when responsibilities shift unevenly. Ideally, companies should have fair policies that allow flexibility for parents and ensure others don’t constantly carry the extra weight. That way, no one feels like they’re being penalized for their personal situation.
