I have been reading a few articles talking about how FAANG isn’t as lavish as it used to be. My first question is if that is true? If it is true, my second question is what companies out there have the pay, benefits, and perks like FAANG? My last question is if it is as difficult to get into those companies? Facebook (Meta) Amazon Apple Netflix Google
I’ve been trying to get into the top tier Associate Product Marketing Manager position Google for some time now for just an interview and I feel like business majors somehow have such a stronger chance in getting interviewed especially my business school and I feel really discouraged as an Econ Major and I have a lot of marketing experience that I’ve built over the years. Are there any non-business majors in the tech realm in non technical positions at Google that can advise me?

1. Remove GPA
2. Change format to
- Education
- Skills
- Projects
- Experience
As a fresher what you do during studies matter more then internship experiences
3. For project, remove the Github hyperlink and type whole link, when resume is printed, hyperlink is lost and there is no way to find the link, same for Linkedin link if present on top
Resume looks pretty neat to me. Not sure if NYU has Handshake but that’s really helpful. Many companies offer internships and co ops on there
+1. this is great advice.
4. Format the skills and technologies to languages, frameworks etc, shows your strengths in each department plus shows that you know the differences
Instead of just showing the code on github, host it somewhere and add that too, easy for recruiters and interviewers to play around instead of reading the code
Other people gave advice on the resume. Instead, I will give you different advice. NYU alums on LinkedIn in your field will be your best resource to network and receive a referral for specific job/internship posts. LinkedIn is also a great way to look for internships, and Google job search is good too to look for a diverse set of job/internship opportunities.

Hey! A fellow international student here! I do interviews and career fairs for my company. The one thing I have seen with Grad Students who have done their undergrad abroad is lack of communication skills. An internship usually comes from your communication skills and networking.
Do you need sponsorship?
I think maybe work more on networking on LinkedIn because your resume is pretty clean
I’d check into your college career center check for any career fairs or how to get in touch with recruiters. Building a network is as important as a good resume !
Resume is solid. What kinds of positions are you looking for?
If your school uses handshake, they post different internships and jobs on there!
Make this exact post on LinkedIn asking for help/advice. I’ve seen many students have luck with this. Don’t forget to add hashtags like #intern #NYU etc to boost your views. Your resume seems nice in my opinion. Just need the right connections now and your alum network, recruiters and others on LinkedIn who see your post can help with that. Good luck!
Thanks for providing the feedbacks. Really appreciate it. I checked this against Resume Worded too and got about 85 on 100 but was confused why this was getting rejected. Maybe it's luck sometimes. Thanks everyone will keep trying anyways. Never gonna give up!
Just to answer a few questions that people have asked here:
1. Yes, I need sponsorship, I am currently on F-1 visa so I have CPT/OPT. But would need sponsorship after that for H1-B
2. Yes, I have applied to more than 500+ internships across various websites like LinkedIn, Indeed and Handshake but had 1-2 callbacks but still no luck after that even.
3. I am looking for opportunities in Data Analytics and Science field and even my managers and seniors have told me that I am made for the consulting field. I am also open to Fullstack Development and Software Internships which I kind of like doing.
PS: If anyone reading this feels like this resume fits an opportunity in your team somewhere, I'll be happy to talk about it. Say hi to me at "shubhkirtisharma@nyu.edu"
Cheers guys, have a great day!

JP Morgan has a big diversity initiative and also many positions. Do you want a programming or analytics position?
If you wanna change up the way it looks, check out Novoresume. I’ve gotten lots of companies call back bc it stands out
What kind of tacos are you looking for? It feels like a kind of all over the place in terms of skills and I’m surprised none of your research as a grad student is present.
I am in the same position too.... All the best:)
