I'm still pretty new to nursing, and I think I am taking every little thing to heart. I find myself lying in bed and wondering if I forgot to document one small thing or if I should have said something differently to a patient. It's starting to mess with my sleep. How do you learn to trust that you did your best?

Being a nurse is a noble profession. Give yourself grace to be human too. When you’ve done your hard work, go home and tell yourself, “I’m not going there!” In other words, if you do start to think about it, tell yourself again, “I’ve done well. I’m not thinking about it” and change your thoughts to something else. We need you! Don’t make yourself overthink and churn those thoughts. We don’t want you to burn out! Care when your there, then let it go! ♥️

Treat the patients the way you would want to be treated then document. It’s gets easier. I’m about to go from Dialysis to skilled nursing and it’s driving me crazy but I know that if I take my own advice and one day at a time it will work out. Good luck!

I've been a nurse 46 years. Here's a tip: Develop your "protocol" for how you do your clinical nursing job. I used to carry an outline on a pocket card. Documentation for instance--Head to toe assessment by system---Neuro/CV/Respiratory/GI/GU/Social/Changes/Procedures/Drains---Once you start your thinking in a systematic fashion and do it EVERY time you'll find that approaching EVERY patient, EVERY time becomes a habit. They say it takes 30 days to make a habit. Remember to relax and bring YOU to each patient. Patients watch/listen to every thing we do and appreciate us explaining to them, asking questions and being educated by us. They appreciate our kindness, knowlege, and respect as we care for them.

I labeled those thoughts as “intrusive thoughts” and told myself that they wont help me grow as a nurse if I keep ruminating on them. Then they slowly started to vanish over time. You sound like you care deeply, which shows your doing what you can. And if you do mess up, just know everyone around you has messed up too so you arent alone. Good luck!

Considering exit opps in private equity for tax manager roles. With the market as it is what kind of range would you expect? PA pay is through the roof right now (based on recruiters and friends in other firms 160-170) so I'm not sure how that should compare to industry.

Hello all, I work full time as an RN at the VA. I’ve been looking for a side hustle to do on my own time.
