I’m worried that I am stuck in Resume Hell. I’ve been in practice for fifteen years but 1.) never worked for a firm, 2.) worked 2/3 of my career as the sole lawyer at a tiny company (“GC” role but nobody seems to care), 3.) got laid off when my last company got merged (Senior role), and 4.) have been doing in-house secondments for over two years now. Last time I had to look for work, most companies auto-rejected me.

Any tips for making this look good enough to get an interview?

Looking for some advice on a career change. I work in a technical role and have well-developed soft skills. I want to transition to UX (w/ focus on accessibility). There are a lot of UX educational programs out there, some very new, e.g. Dribbble, and costs are all over the place - General Assembly is $15k (and full-time), CareerFoundry almost $8k, and then many others at a fraction of the price. Reviews also vary wildly. Are these more expensive programs worth the huge increase in cost?

When do I begin adjusting? It’s been 4 months. I joined as an associate and I feel like sometimes my work is sloppy or I’m overwhelmed. After you moved in-house, how did you get more comfortable reviewing contracts or counseling on issues you weren’t super familiar with? Curious if anyone else is or has been in the same boat. I started as an assistant at an entertainment law firm prior to passing the bar. Upon passing, the partner told me they would hire an assistant for me since I now became an associate. That was 1.5 years ago and I am still in the limbo of juggling my own workload + doing assistant roles for my supervisors. I have also had no increase in pay, which is a huge deal for me. I have an offer for $130k for a senior attorney position in a boutique L&E firm. Also have a recruiter who thinks she can get me into another for $150-170k. Both are more than I’ve ever made (Denver, 17 yrs of experience but completely different practice areas). Any tips for countering the $130k offer for more using the other potential offer while not risking a complete withdrawal of the current offer?
