And logic people would realize that why spend money visiting Toronto when the money can be spent visiting more interesting places — a person only has a finite amount of time and money, in case that’s not obvious

like

That’s like going to go see Yonge and Dundas square, the worst nightmare for anyone who lives here… but the people visiting don’t know any better, they don’t have it where they’re from lol

If they knew any better they wouldn’t have gone to Toronto.

To be fair, the PATH is the least boring thing in Toronto, in comparison

Who knows about Goosehead insurances work culture. 5 min into sourcing I’m seeing some discouraging statistics about who they move up faster vs who they don’t. Hi! I have worked in management roles in tech, mainly in analytics, for approximately 10 years. My TC has fluctuated (currently around 135K CAD), but it seems like it's relatively easy to breach the 100K bar, but hard to breach the 150K bar. I now work at the CBC, but I have worked in the private sector too. What is the most realistic way to move to 200K? 1) Continue moving the ladder to a VP position, 2) Switch to Pre-Sale, 3) Switch to Consulting, 4) Work from a U.S. company from Canada.

Making a lot of money relative to the average but feeling poor? Median after-tax income was ~$55,000 in 1981 and was ~$73,000 in 2020. Using a Bank of Canada inflation calculator $55,000 in 1981 is equivalent to ~$165,000 today, which would put someone in the top 10% of earners today. But in 1981 the median family had that extra money. Who can I blame?
