in this day and age of mass layoffs, i wonder how much having an outlier salary puts you at a higher risk for layoff across a team? obviously if you are a star performer you should deserve your spot, but if performance is roughly equal, do the highest earners get the axe?

If job posting pay was $36.66 hourly (no range) what would be an acceptable offer and counter offer?

My husband just received a job offer on an opportunity he is really excited about. It would be great for his career and they are giving the 15% jump in base he asked for, however they won’t share what the target bonus amount would be. It’s an executive director position, so I would assume it’s a decent target bonus, but without that in writing it could honestly be a gift basket at the end of the year. Is it a red flag for them to not share this? His total comp could be less at this new job…

How to discuss higher salary based on change in expected work hours per week

Started a new job a year ago, high performer. My manager suggested a promotion to Product Manager since that‘s the work I’m doing, but that would be a 50% raise. Higher ups decided instead to make a “new role” (not PM), that has no analog in the company and is hard to price via Glassdoor, etc. I feel like this is to limit my promotion salary to something like 10% from where it currently is. Should I Go Back and Reneg? Recently I was offered a role as a Project Implementation Manager (In Retirement Services) .The salary range for Colorado residents was 65-89K. I’m located in NY so the recruiter said he would try to get me more. Ultimately he came back at 90K which is a bit inline with that I was seeing on Glassdoor but approx looks like I may leave 10-12K on the table. Does anyone know how much Licensing Manager should get? I am currently a licensing specialist and waiting for my promotion. My boss said it is happening before Oct so I just want to have my number set.
