Is anyone else constantly checking LinkedIn and feeling like everyone else is just effortlessly landing jobs? I keep comparing myself to people who seem to go from "applied" to "accepted" overnight. Anyone else battling that "everyone's ahead of me" feeling?

They are not landing them effortlessly. Do yourself a favor and stop comparing yourself (kiss of death to your soul) and believe the opportunity that is great for you will present itself in due time. Be patient. Some people hop around a lot without any concern for the environment they are jumping into.

One of the reasons I don't spend a lot of time on LinkedIn is because I know a lot of it is just people putting the best spin on things. All the congratulations and people patting each other's backs can get pretty annoying. I don't resent anyone else's success, but hearing the brags, and humblebrags, on LinkedIn can be a lot to take.

You are only seeing the successes, and you don't know how many months, or even years, it took to land that position. I completely know what you're saying though. I try to feel happy for people who find work, but I end up feeling worse about myself.

People only put the best of themselves out there but I reality, they also had to work hard and deal with rejections. Just like any social media platform, try not to compare yourself to them.

I have a governmental entity client in Texas that wants to offer 6 weeks of paid parental leave for all employees, even those who aren’t eligible for FMLA. After the paid 6 weeks, the employee can choose to continue paid leave using any accrued personal leave.

Texas does not have a paid parental leave statute.

If paid leave above what is required is offered for parents, do we also have to provide the same benefit to other employees that are eligible for unpaid leave?
