If you identify as a woman or non-binary..
1) There's a climbing group at Movement SF every Monday at 7-7:15ish pm called "Flirty Flashers"
2) Junior League San Francisco is great if you are interested in giving back to the community. It's a philanthropic social club. This does require some time commitment.
3) City Girls Who Walk does a weekly walk and other activities. They have a Discord channel and Instagram. I haven't been to any of their walks but it seems like a nice way to meet people.
Everyone:
1) Volo Sports has rec leagues. I haven't done it but have heard good things
2) I've heard there's a fun board game meetup at Dogpatch Games
3) if you're into Opera, there's the Bravo Club
4) if you have money to drop, there are a number of social clubs in the city like the Modernist, the Battery, Metropolitan Club, etc.
5) Meetup and luma can be places to find events. I personally had minimal luck with Meetup.
6) If you show up to some things in different communities like founder/investor groups, the burner community etc, you may find yourself on random email lists, Whatsapp/discord/telegram channels, etc where you get invited to random things.
7) Run clubs
8) there are a number of paid experiences now like "time left" and "Thursdays" that gather people either for the purposes of meeting new people platonically or romantically.
Personally, I'm part of the climbing group, a member of the Junior League, have sought out random events, and joined a ceramics studio. They all keep me more than busy, and I was able to integrate into the city pretty quickly. I've only been a year and a half and people often think I've been here for a very long time. It just takes some effort.
Don't forget, when you're new, you're trying to integrate into other groups/people's lives that are already in some routine. You have to be the one to be persistent and initiate for some time before the effort starts being reciprocated.
Good luck!
