Applied to a job posting for a Sr Mgmnt position at co where I know the CEO from working together years ago. Been years since we've spoken. Is it wrong or frowned upon to let him know of my interest / application in the position?

I work for a startup and recently a headhunter working with another company reached out about a role. Turns out, this company is invested in my current startup and is also an advisor to my current company.

I have no intention of quitting right now but want to test the waters and see what kind of offers I can get.

Would be a good idea to apply at this company? Would they "warn" my ceo about the fact that I applied?

If you join a seed stage start up just prior to Series A in a CEO minus 1 role (e.g. COO or Chief of Staff), can anyone speak to a framework / key considerations for comp expectations in terms of cash vs. equity?

PhD + 2 YoE and contemplating a jump here vs. big corporates but would appreciate any advice on how to evaluate the opportunity. Thanks in advance

A recruiter at Riot Games reached out to me on LinkedIn. They're hiring for multiple newly created corporate strategy roles. The strategy org will work closely with the CEO and exec team to shape company strategy through innovation, acquisition, etc. They're looking for consultants who also have an interest and passion for video games.

This post/question definitely isn’t for the average successful big law corporate lawyer since it feels like I’ve taken a very unorthodox route.. I am a junior attorney that finally got out of litigation. I took a role as general counsel for a rather big (as in presence in multiple states/facilities in multiple cities) vertically integrated cannabis company. So I received a msg from a headhunter for a start up with about 300 people and just got series D for 75M. The role is to work with CEO’s and very senior level people. The two issues I am having are: when I looked at some of the VP’s over the group…they wouldn’t be very senior anywhere else. One has been working since 2010 and until 5 yrs ago was a ESOL teacher. Today I had a 4th round interview and gave a 10 min presentation for a position I really want. I honestly love everything about this position and is my dream job. I thought it went really well & she seemed very positive. She said she would follow up with the ceo (who I already met with) and let me know about next steps. I was originally told there would be 5 rounds and with every other round I’ve known next steps before I left the interview. This time I had to wait. Is this a good or a bad sign?

Hello! I have 3 yrs work experience at a top strategy boutique in Europe. I have now offers to join EYP at Senior Level in Western Europe (leading tier 2 in the market), Kearney in Dubai at Senior level too and a “head of strategy” position for a SME company (700 FTE) in Western Europe. I’m leaning towards the head of strategy as it’s rare those positions are open after only 3 years and CEO is giving me loads of freedom. Which one would you choose ? Most of junior UX designer role asked for 2-3yoe. So, I volunteered at a startup to at least show that I’m working on something.. the entire process has been quite slow due to the stakeholder has been so busy fundraising and ceo said they are hiring developer (for the past 2months...). And just yesterday they announced the company is going on hold. I’m lost how I should present it on my resume / what to do with mid-fi fidelity prototypes that hasn’t been user tested.. I received a verbal offer for an in-house position. Although there is still a final call with the CEO required, I’ve been asked to accept the verbal by tomorrow, with the written offer to follow after the call with the CEO. I’m expecting another offer from a second company this week, and would like to be able to weigh each offer.

Is this verbal offer just to solidify the numbers? If I accept the verbal, would it be bad to not accept the written if the other offer I receive is better?

Interview next week for a fintech VP role (real VP reporting to CEO, not the fake traditional finance VP titles) and have no idea what target salary should be. Glassdoor is all over the place. Trying to crowdsource a reasonable number.

cons: not so sure if work is really interesting, Junior on hierarchy.

I'm an in-house counsel at a national company. Our GC is leaving. I’m the only other in-house attorney, and I’ve only been here for 4 months. I like the job. Previously, I was a 6th-year associate.

Help! I left consulting for in house strategy and it’s the most boring thing ever! Has anyone taken a product manager role? I want to be much closer to impacting profit than to making pretty ceo slides

I’m considering a position at a startup that has its initial seed funding. The role is vague but it’s generally along the lines of project and product manager with an expectation to be a jack of all trades. What I’m trying to figure out is what’s a fair TC package? Any thoughts? It’s out of NYC and is a mid-senior position working directly with the CEO.

Interviewed for an exec position with a small company and in the convo with the CEO (whom I would be replacing), she said "you're very young and there seems to be an issue with young people and work ethic."

Considering a chief of staff role for a BU ceo of a marketing tech company $1B+ valuation. Have previous leadership experience prior to consulting. Is a CoS role a good move as an exit? $300 CC + equity tbd fwiw.

I know exiting the government to work in industry is a thing, but when the former SEC chair takes the CEO position at an alternative investment firm, there should be some questions asked.

What would you call this role?

- Lead product status reporting to CEO, manage issues, risks
- Own Product Prioritization across 5 product lines
-Manage product launch delivery execution from idea to production and ongoing maintenance
-Manage relationship with key development vendor, peer to their companies head of delivery

Have possible exits as a Chief of Staff at a SaaS startup (20M in funding) and as a Strategy Manager at a well known D2C company. Both pay ~125K, though the startup is remote and D2C is in NYC.

Love the creative / fun culture of the D2C, and scared if I’ll measure up to the CEO’s expectations at the startup. I do wonder if the CoS position will demonstrate more growth. Thoughts?
