Is it still worth keeping your resume updated even if you’re not planning to leave your job, or is that just unnecessary effort until you’re ready to move?

It’s significantly easier to have something you don’t need than to need something you don’t have. Put some time aside to keep the resume updated, which also helps to write things down as they happen, and then you aren’t scrambling to remember.

Makes sense. Thanks

Depends. I find it much easier to keep it updated as I go. That way I can send my resume if I come across something I think I’d be a good fit for and it makes it way easier whenever I am ready to move on to get motivated to apply more aggressively

You should keep it updated. Imagine being in the situation (as I was) where you're looking to change jobs for the first time in 20 years, and your resume is totally out of sync with what people are looking for today. You'd almost have to rewrite it from scratch.

Hello,
How is work like in advanced analytics department at Novartis?

Thanks in advance

Hi Fishes,

I received an offer (28 Lakhs + 3.9 Lakhs incentive) from Novartis for Sr Project Manager yesterday. This was just 13.6% more than my current earnings as Project Manager. I've given the reasons why I deserve at least 30% to HR. In response to that, HR has sent 2nd offer i.e. 29 Lakhs + 4 Lakhs incentive + 50k sign-on bonus. The 2nd offer is just 18.2% higher than my current earnings. Need your suggestion, if I could still negotiate with HR to finalize deal by asking for 25% hike?

I have a governmental entity client in Texas that wants to offer 6 weeks of paid parental leave for all employees, even those who aren’t eligible for FMLA. After the paid 6 weeks, the employee can choose to continue paid leave using any accrued personal leave.

Texas does not have a paid parental leave statute.

If paid leave above what is required is offered for parents, do we also have to provide the same benefit to other employees that are eligible for unpaid leave?

Curious what’s a fair salary in MA? Was just told that there is likely not going to be a chance for a raise during my upcoming performance review due to my salary already being “above average for the industry” based on my employer’s questionable research. I’ve been with the company 8.5 years & am the only one in my role, which they can’t operate without. I execute tasks from two investment advisors and two financial planners - they make the decisions of what should happen & I make it happen.

I am a registered sales assistant which means I have my series 7. I also have the 63 and my Life & Health license. I was a financial advisor but the role is commission only so I decided to take a role as an assistant for some time to learn etc. I really like my role, but I only make 32k a year and after taxes I only take home about 25k. I have a gut feeling that I’m not being paid market value but it’s tough to find comparable salaries. Do you think $15.38/hr is a fair wage in this case?
