Using AI isn't cheating. Do think its cheating to use a car instead of walking? Is it cheating to use google when you could go to a library and find the source from a book? Using your dishwasher? ... the list can go on about modern innovations you utilize on a regular basis.
Leveraging AI in your work is working smarter, not harder. You are only hurting your career. OpenAI & Claude have great training videos, maybe it will help to watch some lessons first. Or watch YouTube videos on the features of a software you use at work. Dip your toes in, get curious but resisting isn't going to work out well.
Don’t fight AI improving your productivity where it can, you are shooting yourself in the foot.
Don’t believe it can do everything though, think critically on the output and spend time building skills etc that give you precisely what you need from it.
Start using it for little things. Like it does a fantastic job of distilling notes and action items from calls. You have to pay attention to the call and READ the output (and fix as necessary) but it does 95% of the work for you.
The more specific you are in prompting it, the better it gets. But always read it carefully. Don’t trust the output blindly.
I dump notes in there, it distills for me, and then I have it start drafts of action items based on said notes. Works like a charm. I also use it to accelerate my drafting of marketing materials. I can turn an obscure conversation with a lawyer (I’m in legal marketing) into a compelling client facing marketing piece that doesn’t use legalese. It can sound artificial so editing is needed but it really helps alleviate devoting lots of brain power to smaller tasks that eat up your attention and energy throughout the day.
