I hate giving presentations. Any tips for feeling (or at least looking) comfortable and confident?

I just rehearse many times until I almost have it memorized. I can’t fake confidence so this gives me actual confidence because I now know the subject matter up and down. Anticipate what kind of questions you might get and have answers ready.

Always stare at the clock in the back of the room (if there’s one) or look directly above everyone’s head, it appears that you’re making eye contact lol. Also the slower you feel like you’re speaking, it’s actually perfect pace. Always smile and try to engage the audience....you can even try to open dialogue before you present so you feel like you “know” someone in the audience

Ooo, good suggestion. Thanks!

That will happen a lot too. But it’s better to say “let me get back to you on that” with confidence than stumble around trying to come up with the right answer.

A little bit of nerves is good btw. It keeps you alert and lets you perform at your best

K3 so true. If you simple say I am not sure, but I’ll take that question down and get back to you is so much more helpful than listening to someone figure out a “fake” answer lol

Acting lessons. Can self study and practice. Hey into character. Will help a lot.

I try to anticipate questions, but I am always worried that I will get one I can't answer.

I took an improv class. It really helped. Think my mind just accepted that if I can give an impromptu presentation in gibberish, I can do it in English. It’s also a lot of practice, easier now than ever before

Make it as a conversation and interactive. The less spotlight on us, the better we feel.
