Is it true to get a retirement offer at PwC your age and tenure has to add up to 80 years?

TD1 has it spot on. Details are on the benefits site but you have to search for them as they are not easy to find. Look for retiree medical benefits. I retired Dec 31 under the VRIP (Voluntary Retirement Incentive Plan) and have the post retirement medical benefit, have to say that it is a huge relief to know that my spouse and I are on the firm plan for life.

Where did you hear that?

What is a retirement offer?

Post retirement medical at age 60 provided you have 20 years experience. That is the rule of 80. This bridges you and spouse to 65 and then you go on the firms Medicare Advantage Plan. Better drug coverage than Medicare Part D. The issue is you have to make it to 60 as a non partner. Getting from 52-60 is very difficult. Once you get to 58-59 you are probably ok. I did this for the medical coverage.

This was for the VRIP I’m guessing. I got an offer but it wasn’t enough.

My wife recently put in her two weeks and half the people she worked with are just ignoring her messages. They asked to work longer but bc of her new company she cant. Shes moving for about 60% more pay from external audit to senior accounting. Shes extremely sad and im confused why these firms are so uptight about this. She is giving them an additional 4 days which she wanted to use on vacation. Did she do something wrong?

What was your experience with the LSAT? Do you think it's gatekeeping, preventing students who can't afford it (often people of color) from entering the field? There’s a practice group that I’ve been trying to find work in but whenever I volunteer to help, I always get roped in to do non billable work. In the beginning it was fine but now I’m feeling it’s never going to amount to actual work. Any tips to get more involved without all the non billables and how to approach this gently?

PSA: The grass is greener in a regional firm if you can lateral over as a partner. I lateralled over last year and my billable expectation is only 1700. I have my own clients and make about 100k (after bonus) more than I did as a senior associate. The upside is probably capped because top equity partners probably make 1.5 to 2 million here but it is all worth it for the WLB. I only take on what I want to do and I help out other partners only when I feel like it.
