It's been 3 months since my layoff. I need a new job, but I'm just panic-applying and feeling scattered. What's the smartest, most organized way to restart this search in a way that's more strategic?

There's no need to panic. If it's been three months you're presumably still collecting unemployment plus you probably got some severance. And panic applying is just bad strategy. Fire up the networking, get in touch with professional associates and let them know you're looking for work. If someone doesn't know of anything, they may steer you to someone who does. You're right to want to proceed strategically and doing some networking is a good way to start on that.

Should you let the recruiter or HR know you are laid off? I have told a recruiter about it and he direct me to somewhere else and refuse to help me.

Would you rather try to get promoted/climb the career ladder or try and grow your side hustle into a larger enterprise while working your day job? I’m at a point where I’m very comfortable where I am and ready to move on to higher paying but more stressful roles. At the same time I’m also pursuing a side hustle that can be lucrative if done correctly but comes with more risks. Would you 1.) try and get promoted while pursuing a side hustle or 2.) stay in current role and focus on side hustle?

I'm feeling a lot of anger towards my manager (now he's acting normal but there were moments where he was condescending/dismissive/mocked my and others work/arrogant/said stuff was "wrong" constantly/belittling the difficulty of tasks etc. in the past project).
Maybe it is "standard chewing out" but it bothered me a lot. So much that I find myself still getting all fired up inside thinking about it...
Idk how to let go of this :/ Thoughts?

What do you do for winter shoes and commuting?

I walk a total ~20 mins in between train/bus stations and then getting from the stop in the loop to the office.

What do I do come wintertime for boots? Do you wear them while you're in the office? Or do you bring dress shoes with you to change in to? I wear a suit to work, so what boots would be good for winter but also look decent with a suit? This is my first winter in Chicago (a socal transplant)
