Would you rather try to get promoted/climb the career ladder or try and grow your side hustle into a larger enterprise while working your day job? I’m at a point where I’m very comfortable where I am and ready to move on to higher paying but more stressful roles. At the same time I’m also pursuing a side hustle that can be lucrative if done correctly but comes with more risks. Would you 1.) try and get promoted while pursuing a side hustle or 2.) stay in current role and focus on side hustle?

Would you rather stay in a boring job (good pay, good wlb, boring work) for a year and get your green card or switch to a better company and let the greencard go? The boring job is also does not have a lot of work in the pipeline.

I’d to get a job in a small architecture firm or work for a developer to help build up my network. For the past 6 years I’ve taught high school architecture and engineering and done real estate on the side. I have an industrial design degree and tremendous construction and real estate sales knowledge. I also started architecture school but stupidly switched to industrial design. I don’t want to go back to school for architecture. Ultimately, I want to own my own company developing real estate.

I can’t get out. I’m a barred attorney looking to move into a JD preferred role. I don’t like being at a firm. I’ve applied to hundreds (literally) of contract, compliance, regulatory, etc. sort of jobs. I’m not looking for a crazy salary either. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. How do I make the switch? AWS lowballed but I negotiated to match Cloudflare. Cloudflare offers more equity but AWS has a higher base.

I love Cloudflare. The people are great but it’s an engineering culture and the sales team isn’t as well shaped up and I can’t go for a promotion until at least 18 months of tenure. I am an investor in the company and think of them super highly. I’ve already got half a years SDR experience and AWS promotes quicker.
