Yep, I thought WFH would give me more time with my family, but now I just feel like I’m “on” all the time. It’s like work just sneaks back in after the house quiets down. I’ve started putting my phone in a different room at night to try and force a boundary. Still figuring it out.
I relate way too much. I think we’re all sold this idea that flexibility = freedom, but it often just means you're working in bursts all day and night. I’m debating turning off notifications completely after a certain hour… just scared I’ll miss something “urgent.”
Is not only now people been struggling answering emails at 9.30 pm. Many years ago where there isn't any so called WFH, is already been there. You just need to make a cut off time to stop answering emails.
Be thankful that you still have your current job.
I believe it’s about setting boundaries.
I’ve been working hard and taking on extra projects at work.
But then I realised most quiet quitted managers just want to keep their iron rice bowl safe.
And there’s no ownership nor equity in working hard.
So I’ll do just enough, conserve energy, and start building my own small business—just do something on daily basis to progress for yourself.
Absolutely agree with u. I have long past the stage of OT and sacrificing my me-time/family-time for work. Cos I learnt the hard truth of no matter how hard u work, it will all come crumbling down when ur time is not good. Now im just in my ‘2 punch & a lunch’ phase. Regardless of whether I WFH/in office, I don’t lift a finger after 6pm. I don’t really care what my colleagues think as long as I know I have managed my work well within my working hours.
