I've been in public accounting for four years and am considering opportunities in industry. If you made that change, did you see a real bump in salary, or was it roughly the same? I know the hours and stress are supposedly better, but I'm curious about the actual financial impact. Thanks.

Go through a recruiter. They’re privy to jobs that may not be posted elsewhere and can really tailor your job search to your needs. They also present you jobs that need to be filled soon or where there are actual openings that you would fit. Many of the job listings online are either fake, stale, or not urgently hiring. I just left as a newly promoted senior and am making more than most of my old mangers are. Whole process from reaching out to the recruiter to accepting the job was 3 weeks. My resume wasn’t anything special either. Couldn’t recommend it enough

Most people with your experience (4 years) will get a nice immediate bump for moving to industry. Maybe 10-20% or more. But, industry annual increases are small and promotions are generally much harder to get. Also, if you’re a high performer in public, your comp will likely pass your increased comp in industry a few years later and your exit ops will get better.

I have made the move back and forth a couple of times. Right now there isn't a big pay jump in the current market. When I moved last year the pivot was immaterial and around 6k. In the past I was able to pivot for additional 20k.

Job market is tight right now and employers are more rigid on what they want for qualifications vs wish list style wants. With the market, employers are looking to get high talent with alit of certifications for low wages.

I work in a strategy role at a gaming company. While I have the designation of a manager, I am not managing anyone. They were going to hire people who I would manage but due to recession it’s not happening. I was earlier in consulting and left at the senior level. How does one pivot into senior roles without having an opportunity to manage anyone?

What do you guys think about apps like BetterHelp and Talkspace? I understand they might have real therapists working on their content, but a lot of the marketing I see is so vague and broad that it feels like a lie. Seems like "This app got rid of my anxiety with a 30-minute automated text questionnaire" is the new "This tea made me lose 20 pounds in two weeks!" Just seems a little fad-like and money grabby to me. Thoughts?
