Live in nyc, not Schenectady or some suburb, at least for your first year in town. You can always move later. Live near (5-7 min walk) to a subway station.
What is your rent budget? Let this inform your location.
I would live in Manhattan, specifically hells kitchen as a starting point, but anywhere between 60th and Greenwich village between 9th ave and 5th would be great.
I'm also black and mid/late 30s, and while that may be in issue in some places, that won't be an issue in a place as diverse as Manhattan or HK.
Thank you! I will have to check these areas out!
Schenectady is far out, that would be a no lol
Stamford is pretty far, trains commute back and forth is not fun and can be expensive. I lived in NYC for many years, first in West Village and then East Midtown… I’d say try to look Brooklyn or Jersey City but also you can find great deals in the city too…
