I’ve been trying for half the year to get into dental receptionist/office assistant. I’m having no luck with these job boards. Does it look bad or is it odd to call offices and ask if I could fax my resume to them?

I don’t work in dental but not all jobs find their way onto job boards. If you make yourself available and take the time to make a good impression, cold calling offices has the probability of finding an opening. It’s a numbers game and the probability of success is based on how many’s places you call. The more you contact the higher your probability of finding one tht is hiring.

I’ve started doing that. I’m gonna start again this coming week. Ive already physically taken my resume to some offices already. I wonder tho, when I do make calls, is it wrong to ask if I could fax my resume to the office I call?

No I don’t. I’ve only worked straight out of high school for my Father who was a dentist. He retired in 2021. Needless to say some family situations got in the way but now I’ve been ready to work.
