I was in the same situation years ago and ended up turning to contract work. Honestly it was the best decision I made during that time. I picked up a few three month contracts and it gave me the chance to work at different companies, see how they operate, and add solid experience to my resume. The flexibility was a big plus too. When a contract wrapped up I could extend if things were going well or take a little time off to focus on certifications or even just rest for a bit. It really helped me stay sharp and made the transition to a permanent role much smoother.
This is an employer issue and doesn’t reflect on you. Hearing nothing either way after having an interview just shows you how the company is. Keep trying, and know it’s happening to a lot of us out here.
Don’t let it wear you down. If you’re consistently getting to second interviews, that’s a sign you’re doing a lot right. It’s usually just a numbers game at that point.
