I became a claims counsel in-house (for a surety but it's an insurance company). I handle some of my own claims and manage outside litigation. I never appear in court myself or handle any litigation myself. It's a breeze.
I know people who are recovering lawyers that became adjusters and they seem to enjoy it. Some eventually become managers.
Just don't expect significant salary jumps or huge bonuses like at a firm.
I'm 16 years in and was 15 years in when I made the jump. I would encourage you to move out of ID into a traditional firm, unless you truly hate being a lawyer.
Years ago when I worked Fire Claims (early/mid 2000s), there was an in-house defense attorney that switched to Casualty Claim Rep in Fire Claims. It was conveyed that he enjoyed the switch, was less work/less stressful. Plus, he was getting close to retirement. If you do make the switch, I wouldn’t doubt you’d have invaluable information/insight to bring to your new peers!
Keep in mind that most companies are very much metrics driven in the claims environment. Idk how it is with ID Litigation. But, something to prepare yourself for, if you do switch.
