I've done a few big chops and other hair reinventions. It always makes me feel powerful for some reason 😂 I'm growing out my hair now but always support a switch up. And that first hair wash after the chop?? Magic.
Also, I get how your mom's comments might give you pause... My mom is pretty much the reason I haven't quit my job but she's wrong and I'm giving my power away by letting her opinions (based on her very different than mine life) dictate what I'm comfortable doing
Don’t! Of course it will grow back but try a silk press first. It lasts for awhile.
I did a while ago in college but was gradual. This is when I wore it straight tho. I cut it into a bob and then a Mohawk like Rihanna used to have (that long ago!) and grew it out to my ears and cut it again. Now it’s a big curly fro I haven’t straightened in about 5 years.
Moms will always hate you cutting your beautiful hair or sometimes whatever is “different.” My mom didn’t want me to grow it out to natural (before it was in style) and reason being she thought I had “hard to comb/style” curls. I did it anyways and other family members saw and grew theirs out, too. She didn’t want me to cut my hair, did it anyways.
It will grow back! Do what you want!
Try mini twists
If you’re dating? I would try a silk press.
Yikes this sounds a lil toxic
