I agree the same, having the support makes such a difference rather than playing the silence card. Opens up an opportunity to communicate with your new employees and get to know each other more to work out if the job suits you and if you’re suitable for the job.

It’s concerning how quickly some employers judge performance during probation. It takes time to adjust and show true potential. A little patience can go a long way!
I agree with you. If you have nobody helping you and are just left to flounder, that is not fair on the probationary employee. Sometimes it takes getting them with the right person for them to really flourish.
The first thing would be to stop calling it probation, as if it's post prison sentence. Call it an Introductory Period. If someone is struggling during this period, it's either due to poor training or an overall bad hire.
Using different trainers during that time to provide feedback and not just one person. Clear and documented outline of expectations during the 90-day probationary period. Then meeting weekly to make sure the individual is meeting goals and if not, discuss ways to improve. The supervisor should offer advice during that time, as well.
