Last year, a kind woman who was shopping on Thanksgiving in the store I work in, gave me a $50 Starbucks gift card. I don't care for coffee, but it felt so good to be on the receiving end of that gesture. It also helped a lot at the time, because I'd also just gotten into a fight with my manager, who refused to pay us time and a half after he semi-promised that he could make that happen for us. Do you have any stories like this to share?

I had an older gentleman try to hand me $20 after I walked him to his car to help with his groceries. He had mobility issues and kept apologizing for how long it took him to make the walk. It was so sad and sweet at the same time. I had to turn it down because we've got a strict policy about not accepting tips.

It's amazing how little it takes to make us feel appreciated and valued. And yet, corporate retail keeps screwing it up ;) at this point, ANYTHING other than a pizza party is a win.

Little acts of kindness from customers can weirdly keep you going. A genuine thank-you, someone telling a manager you helped them, or tipping you with a gift card or snacks on a brutal holiday shift are really what makes my life in retail special. At the same time, it stings when that basic humanity from a stranger contrasts with managers who dodge things like time-and-a-half or fair scheduling

That’s awesome! Starbucks has a lot more than coffee. Sandwiches, tea, croissants, breakfasts, ect.

I'm surprised "that kind of Management" permits
