Looking for perspective on how investment firms view an MBA vs MS degree. Im aiming to work as a Macro or Policy analyst at a firm and fear an MBA might not give me the policy exposure I’m looking for. Im eyeing a MS program that covers international relations and business and wondering if this kind of an interdisciplinary program would be attractive to firms. Or do I just bite the bullet and do a traditional MBA?

Been trying to lateral from PwC Deals Adv to IB and it’s been very difficult. Have the experience and technical skills, just not the banking background firms want to see. Anybody in IB willing to connect and share their experience?

Accepting an offer in IBD, lateraling over from consulting. Opportunity of a lifetime for me so don’t want to lose it.
But timing is horrible. I joined the Army Reserves before this opportunity was on my radar. Interviewed over several months, got the offer, but shipping out in 1 month for training for 6 months.
Do I irreversibly shoot my career by joining and immediately going on LoA? I obviously haven’t mentioned it in the interview process. Or will this be forgotten a couple years in?
