I’m currently a third year in my small firm’s life sciences team. I’m not really stimulated by the work and although they say they have a lot of work, they’re not good at managing workload. I haven’t had much work on my plate even after asking many times for more than six months. I’m ready to move to a larger law firm. However, I am concerned how I’ll manage the workload as a mom to a toddler. The good thing about my firm is that they’re flexible with hours. Anyone have experience balancing?

Got an offer for SE III at a large tech company. Product I'd be working on interests me and I think I could grow more than in my current role.

Currently I make 180k base and have ISO/RSUs @ startup (60k/yr worth on paper, but won't be worth anything for a few years, if at all).

The offer is:
Base: $166,500
Target Bonus: 10% ($16,650)
RSU: 120k total (30k/yr)

Thoughts on offer? Should I counter?

Considering an offer to go from firm (4 YOE) to become a privacy/product counsel for a tech company (non-faang). One concern for me is the potential of a recession in late 22 into 23 with the fed rate hikes. My fear is if that happens, me being on the chopping block as new in house counsel. Hi All - I’m at a firm that has some infrequent in-house training but not enough to help me develop skills to eventually become a trial lawyer. I know cases rarely make it to trial anymore, but I’d like to develop my skills as much as possible to position myself well when they do. Been feeling spread too thin lately but I don’t know whats typical. Curious what others do. And would you mind sharing whether you’re a junior, midlevel, partner, etc??

I realize sheer number of cases doesn’t tell the whole story… obviously you can be buried on one massive case. I’m finding it hard to jump back and forth between everything I have going on right now, though, but I don’t know if the answer is to just deal with it.
