A full-time position is usually better, there's some job security (well, as much as you can get in today's world) and benefits. With a lot of companies nervous about hiring, it's not surprising to see them move toward limited term jobs. From the employer's perspective it's a risk management option in a chaotic economy. For job candidates it's frustrating.
Yeah that’s very true, seems a bit risky to start treading water when I have a perfectly fine job to stay at for the moment.
In this hiring market security is the biggest commodity. I’d recommend staying where you are and looking for a gig you can work on the side at nights.
Not a bad idea!
I do a lot of freelancing and have a mix of short and long term contracts. Long term is far preferable. Having to find and replace short term contracts is a real grind.
Yeah I’m not sure I have it in me for that grind, there’s a comfort with full time.
