Moving to SF in September. How much should I expect to shell out for renting a one bedroom in a relatively safe building around FiDi? How do I find good apartments remotely given I cannot travel to SF rn?

$2500 and up at the very least. Hard to find anything under $2800, really

As for making sure they’re good, that’s tough without being here. That’s not specific to SF either; You can’t shop for an apartment like you’re buying a vacuum on Amazon. Though I do think that renting from a big company/building will be much more reliable without viewing the unit first

Research the neighborhoods online or in these bowls to see what would be a good fit. Cheap=crappy neighborhood

I have family that takes the BART in order to get to work in San Francisco. Where there's a will there's a way you don't necessarily need to live in the city.

Moving from a boutique (<30 employees, MBB competitor) to the strategy practice of a Big 4. Have only worked for boutiques in the past, so I’m expecting there to be some major differences in terms of working style.

What are the major differences and ‘watch outs’ you would point out to me? Could be anything from culture, to red tape, to compliance etc.

What is working in LA like for finance/consulting/law? Does everyone drive into work and drive home (meaning less of an after work drinks/events culture and more commuting)? Considering a potential move to LA, but I wouldn’t know anyone so would be hoping to build a bit of a community.

Additional Posts in California Life

Hi all, I am early in my career in Tech. 23 years old but very concerned with CA rising housing cost. I’m based out in the Walnut Creek area but understand that houses go 2Million+ in the Bay. Thoughts on getting whole life insurance and taking a loan out against around age 35? Thinking I can leverage an aggressive savings approach this way and use the FHA loan. Any ideas? Pros/Cons to this?
