You can try to cut off fluids at a certain point in the evening (eg 3 hours before bedtime), but honesty, some kids have smaller bladders and it takes time for them to be big enough to last through the night. There is also a transition period where they wet the bed after using pull ups but get used to it after their bodies figure out how to hold pee.
If it is a concern, talk to your pediatrician. Otherwise he/she will get there eventually
I don't think it's a major issue but they made need some incentive to stop. I suggest taking off the pullups and making them change the sheets
Perfectly normal - one of mine continued to have very occasion issues to about 7 and is now fine - my other never had an issue after age 4 -
Some kids brains don't talk to their bladder when they are sleeping so therefore they do not wake up to urinate. It is actually pretty common among boys that age.
We used an enuresis alarm for our them 7 year old son. They are available from different sites, but I think we got ours from bedwettingstore.com. There is also a good amount of info on that site and it is pretty straightforward.
Be sure to follow the directions carefully or it will not work. We had positive results in 7 weeks.
One thing to keep on mind is that the amount of liquid and time they drink it has absolutely nothing to do with bedwetting, especially if they have full control while they are awake. And waking them up to go to the bathroom does not help either.
I posted without reading the comments ... and recommended what you did. I wet the bed through the 4th or 5th grade or something stupid. And the alarm was a lifesaver. Was super effective when nothing else was
Talk to your doc. I wet the bed until I was 6-7. Turned out fine My kids were nighttime trained by 3. It varies.
Same here
Thanks all for the encouragement and helpful information!!
My son is 4.5 and same exact issue. He tells us that he just doesn’t get the sensation that he needs to pee when he’s sleeping but otherwise good through the day, even when he takes a nap. We’re as frustrated as you are and continue to use the pull ups. My wife and I woke up three times in the middle of night to have him go potty, but after a few nights in a row where you can see he wants to but just doesn’t have the brain connected yet, we’ll continue on this path hoping that one day everything clicks. Hang in there. I’ll probably be in your exact boat in another year
How could it be true that no fluids before bed won’t help? I’d stop fluids at least 3-4 hours before bed and make him go right before bedtime. Don’t think shaming him is the answer (making him change the sheets etc). This is going to be an issue soon once he starts with sleep overs. Good luck!
I wet the bed through the 5th grade or something crazy like that. We tried a lot of things.
What ended up working was this sensor we clipped to my underwear. Basically when I started to pee, it would wake me up immediately. So it conditioned my body or my mind or whatever to know that when I start to pee, I should wake up.
This was super effective.
It’s something like this. This isn’t the exact one and I just pulled this up quickly, so you’ll need to do research on brands/models.

We tried “Therapee” for my 5 year old and it got him to stop within 3-4 weeks. $300 well spent IMO
Bathroom before going to sleep. Water 1 hour before bed. That will help. But especially boys when they are very tired they lose the control
Not unusual not son will be 6 in sept and he’s still in a pull up at night. We aren’t worried about it. I’m pretty sure he won’t goto college with them. :). We do try and limit water after dinner.
