Can you set up regular 1:1s with her?
Mentor
Flip the script and ask her for a catch up on her promotion. Ask her questions on how the new role is going, what’s been interesting / what’s been a challenge, etc. maybe she’s swamped and over whelmed. It gets lonely as you promote upwards and rarely do people check in on you.
Checking in and asking her how she’s doing will remind her that she needs to invest and keep people like that close to her. Take what she tells you about her promotion and see how you can pull up a seat at her table to help her look good at her job, which in turn helps you grow in yours.
Love this!
If they were promoted my bet is they are spending a lot of time learning their new responsibilities. I’d suggest scheduling a time to meet with them.
Ask for a 1:1 and tell them…
Development should be viewed as a partnership. Proactively reach out to her and ask where she feels your strengths and opportunities are, and ask for help creating goals to help you grow. Ask for a cadence to touch base regularly to check in on those goals - does that need to be monthly, quarterly? You’ll have to reflect on how much support you feel you need and ask for her commitment in making that happen.
If she’s not receptive, this might become a different conversation but that’s where I would start.
Great ideas, thanks!!
