Hi fishes! My spouse is planning to go to India but we would need to get her visa stamped before coming back. I see that getting appointment is such a huge problem right now. Can we get her visa stamped from a different country? In this case, we were considering Qatar, she grew up there and has her brother there. For what it’s worth she qualifies for Dropbox in India. How do I find out if Qatar works in our case?Deloitte

That sounds like a very fair boundary to me. Wanting your personal phone and time to stay personal is reasonable, not rebellious. Work chats have a way of creeping into days off fast. Feeling awkward does not mean you were wrong. It just means you spoke up. Would you really be able to switch off if work lived in your pocket 24/7?
It’s not that bad. Just silence your phone when you’re not working. You can have teams app on your phone
Your totally within your rights to not have work stuff on your personal phone I would suggest he gets work phones for every one then it’s fair for all and you can leave it at work or hand it over to a colleague to answer in your absence 👍

Oh I hate work group chats they never n well and always cause a drama .. stay out!!
You’re not being even a little unreasonable. That’s your personal phone, and you pay the bill. If it’s used for work, it then becomes a work phone—and they could potentially access it if any legal issues ever arise.

He is not unreasonable to not want to have work on your personal phone. But as a manager, there may be different expectations. What I would do is to silence notifications on my day off if I absolutely have to have work on my phone.

I mean i have my group chat set up for work, but i dont mind messaging. I dont think my company expects anyone to join though on their phone if it’s their personal phone.
