My company had layoffs last month, but I was lucky enough to keep my job. However, since these layoffs, my workload has nearly tripled. Those of us who are left are expected to pick up the slack for those who lost their jobs. I'm working 60-hour weeks and struggling to keep up. Would I be pushing my luck to ask for a raise or some kind of compensation for this extra work? I don't want to lose my job but I don't think it's fair that I'm doing all of these extra tasks for free.

I wouldn’t hold a lot of hope, but you can try. Be mindful of bringing it up. Address the challenges the company has been facing, outline the increased responsibilities you’ve stepped up to take, and listen to what they say.

I would polish my resume

I’m in a little of a pickle but a good one. Offer A. Established “start up” doing well financially and projected to hit profitability. 130k base. Stocks offered, unlimited PTO, and 70% Medical covered. Offer B. Is at a business much larger…90k salary with 10% bonus and generous stock offering. Titles are different which is why the pay is much different. I know some may think it is a no brainer but offer A allows me to grow the department ground up whereas offer B id be apart of to just different

I asked for a raise in April 2022 after three years with my company. Positive feedback since day one. Learned I was making less than peers at other asset managers in NYC with less experience (14 years). Latest conversation was with HR about how they calculate salaries. I’ve been asked to provide examples how my role has changed since I started to justify the increase. Is this normal? Or is this just their way of denying my request?

Hi all,

After the final interview, HR reached out and said they would like to extend an offer. HR gave a ball park of 135k - 145k base with about 15k in sign-on equity and 20k annual bonus.

After a couple of days, HR person came back with with 125k base and 20k annual bonus. No sign-on equity anymore. What should I do given that these numbers seem way lower than the initial range provided? HR claimed it’s because of “market conditions”.
