My daughter finished her Law Clerk program 6 months ago. We live in Waterloo Ontario.
Every law firm requires 3-5 years experience. She attained a 97% in her course and has a strong dedicated work ethic. Yet nobody is willing to take a risk....suggestions?

Looks like she’s an entry level and the places you’re looking at aren’t hiring entry level. Grades aren’t terribly relevant to the issue, nor are claims of work ethic; she needs an entry role that will take anyone.

Seconding what others have said, the school should have some sort of career placement office or be able to make recommendations.

What is a Law Clerk program, and doesn’t the program provide career placement or guidance?

like

The school set up a 2 month placement as part of her course. Unfortunately it was at a single person paralegal office, not a law firm. She has reached out to the school but got crickets.

like

Yeah echoing the above, the school should have helped her with a placement which might get her hired back.

That being said, if she doesn’t care about the practice area, there’s lots of immigration boutiques that’ll hire law clerks and analysts (try big 4, Fragomen, Green & Spiegel) at an entry level. If she doesn’t get a response she should reach out to someone from within. Hope that helps.

In my area young lawyers can usually get a job with the district attorney’s office or the public defenders office. It may not be what they want to do, but it is experience and they can move on from there.

I will possibly be getting a machinist role through some contacts, and I have no experience in the field and I’m wondering what I could expect to make, when I look up average salaries for a machinist position I see around 65k but that seems too good for my age and experience so I’m wondering what some others in the trade on here are making
