Understand that it’s a major learning curve. Billing is an art. Work at it daily. You will get the hang of it. Look at your upcoming month and always plan ahead. Calculate based on your hours requirement how much you need to bill per week. For example, if your billable hour requirement is 160 a month and August 2022 has four full weeks and three extra days, then plan it out. So if you take no days off, you can comfortably aim for 35-40 hours a week and on your fourth week, you have wiggle room to be short hours because you have those extra days.

Ask your ex partner in person.
Curious, did your old firm not have billable hours?

Career killer? Don’t be so dramatic. Just call up your old boss and tell ‘em you made a mistake.

Give it time. I felt this way when I started my new job but have grown used to it.
If you left on good terms, your old firm may want you back. Doesn’t hurt to ask.
