I received a promotion earlier this year from an Investment Advisor, AVP to Senior Investment Advisor, VP and moved from $110K to $140K ($130 salary + $10K discretionary bonus) all in. I was recently hired by my dream agency. I get creative freedom, flexible hours, and I can work from home if I feel like it. Always keep looking for better opportunities, you never know when one might show up!

Why do firms fire people with low but still profitable hours? I am in my first full year on track for pretty low hours (~1500) but the actual realized fees (after writedowns) are still double my yearly salary. Is it because firms know they could replace someone like me with an equivalent attorney who would bill more?

Turned down a gig at Apple two years ago because I saw a lot of growth opportunities at my current company and saw the position as a step back (even though it was more money) and have regretted it ever since. Still in the same exact position at the same company I was then btw. Bad choice.

Received offer letter with mentioned that at "TCS Kolkata". Can it be considered that my base/work location is also Kolkata (*as i need this). Or is there any chance that after project allocation it may be changed and forcefully transferred to any other location without my consent?
