Hi fishes,
How is the wlb in Amex?
I got a remote L6 SWE offer at Google but the RSUs are too low for that level ($625k over 4 years), could not negotiate it higher. I’ve accepted the offer but trying to be hopeful that I could make it more equitable in the future if I perform well. Are stock refreshers based on the initial RSU grant or solely based on performance? Google

It's worse. No perks, more bs with the client. Good thing is you really don't have to execute anything. You work in the imaginary world.
Depends on your role. I’m in strategy AND I buy!
^ exactly. Working in strategy is like being first in front of the firing squad. When clients are happy you’re the face of it, when clients are pissed you’re also the face of it.
Agree with all replies. I’ve done both but prefer buying. Easier to work with vendors than with clients. Much different skill set. I’m actively looking for opportunities to get back into execution. With that said, I have a much better appreciation for strategists and could collaborate better with them and account managers. Good luck.
It's a different skillset. Just think about whether you like putting together ideas and strategies that will never be executed (or only halfway executed) or if you prefer having specific budgets and tactics and just going out to bring those ideas to life. I do recommend everyone does a rotation in to better understand the skillset of each other.
LOL’d when I saw this question
I've done both. Buying is definitely less frontline and was easier for me personally than media strategy and planning.
