If you haven’t used ovulation strips, start immediately. You may be dramatically surprised by the results. If no baby within 3 months at 35, go have a work up with a reproductive endocrinologist. First steps are a basic exam and blood tests. They tell you a lot. I’ve been through ALL the fertility treatments that exist (and finally have my two miracles), but it doesn’t hurt to get the baseline testing out of the way, which can flag major issues and get you on the best path soon if that’s warranted. And partner needs a sperm analysis yesterday. There’s nothing to it for him (that he doesn’t already do anyway), and if that is the issue, you need to know now bc it can usually be addressed with treatment. Baby dust.
👏👏👏
Ovulation strips helped me a lot. Turned out I was ovulating late in my cycle, and I wouldn’t have known otherwise. Got pregnant right away after I figured that out.
I second this. I used Inito to track ovulation. I found it easier to incorporate the routine of checking every morning and having the app track my levels. Can also make it easier to schedule time with your partner— especially if work is hectic— if you already know you’re in your window.
I was on the "wrong side of 35" myself trying to conceive my first. I was worried. I tried clearblue ovulation tests. I like the one that does on average 4 days aka peak fertility and high fertility days. Knowing when you ovulate is key. I cannot recommend them enough, honestly. I was really worried about wasting time and I wanted to know if we would have issues sooner rather than later. The 4 days gave us time to ensure we didn't miss the appropriate window, etc. I liked not having to guess what a line meant. Circumstances could make me ovulate early in my cycle which was very helpful for me to know.
I got pregnant my first month trying it (but it was a chemical pregnancy) and conceived my son the 3rd month of trying. Ill use them again when I try for my 2nd as I am getting closer and closer to 40.
Try not to get too obsessed with pregancy test results is my only recommendation to using ovation tests. Knowing you ovulate is important. But you can go down a rabbit hole of taking pregancy tests, and I would not recommend that.
I would also talk to a fertility specialist just so you have all the information available. Best of luck!
Inito strips and app! About to have my second at 40.
Talk to your OB/Gyn. My husband and I had been trying naturally for a few years with the strips/Flo/etc. When I turned 35, she referred me to a specialist because of my age. We soon found out my husband has Azoospermia so no strips/Flo/cycle tracking would make any difference. We are now on the IVF train and very happy with our experience. Our FET is next month. (Yay!) You will find out if you go the IVF route, that there isnt a "wrong side of 35". Everything will vary person to person.
Unconventional but …. Incorporate Macca into your diet (he could also but more important for you). This will ignore your libido which is important with long working hours. Makes it less regimented… Have fun!

How did you guys incorporate the Macca root into your diet?
Ovulation strips, app tracking for your cycle, and trying every other day during your most fertile window. I conceived within a month for my son at 35, took a little longer at 39 for my daughter but it happened and both were healthy pregnancies
My brother's doctor said : in order for you to have a baby you need to have a lot of sex daily
Facts
Definitely get tested now. If no problems then go for it the old fashioned way. But if there are some issues better to find out now than after trying for a year and a half (happened to me, then got pregnant almost immediately when I worked with a fertility specialist)

Agree with the Maca root suggestion! I also highly recommend ovulation strips. My best friend conceived later in her 30s (and had some trouble) so she started tracking her cycle really closely, and she wasn’t ovulating at the correct time (she was ovulating late in her cycle) so finding that out really helped her with timing.
Also, I have seen a lot of recent studies on men needing to prepare too. Lifestyle changes should take place, I believe, 90 days prior to trying to conceive. Things like incorporating exercise, eating healthier, reducing stress, consider a male-focused supplement regimen, + cutting back on alcohol/substances.
I would also try to incorporate habits that can help
you relax and reduce stress! Yoga, pilates, meditation, spa treatments, etc. are all good things for you right now. Don’t feel guilty about treating yourself. It will be beneficial for you (and baby!) in the long run.
Wishing you the absolute best of luck!! ✨

They say 6 months which is absolute BS. I just told them I was trying for 6 months when I was really trying for less… turns out I had undiagnosed PCOS and wasn’t even ovulating (even tho the strips said I was). Got pregnant within 4 months of working with my OBGYN using medication and timed intercourse. Soooo I’m just saying if you want to have a baby sooner rather than later just see a fertility specialist / OBGYN and tell them you’ve been trying for 6 months. No one is gonna fact check you. And if you can get pregnant naturally on your own during that time, great. But at least you’re getting stuff started in the meantime.
Something simple but IMO effective is adding a pretty decent buffer to both sides of your fertile window and trying to conceive as much as you can (every other day maybe) on those days too. The cycle we conceived I thought we were definitely out because we didn’t even try that month until 1-2 days after my peak fertile window, so I guess I had ovulated late, even though I had regular periods!
Also, I think keeping it reasonably casual is also a really good mindset/tip itself. My SIL had a lot of trouble conceiving and finally “gave up” on a lot of things they were tracking/trying. It was only a couple of cycles before she was pregnant!

Get a cycle tracking device like inito! After tracking a few cycles you’ll notice trends in your hormones which can be very useful for next steps like if you need to see a doctor. I did that and went to a fertility acupuncturist and it regulated my cycle so I was able to get pregnant.
Get him lifting weights regularly to increase testosterone. Also better stress management = healthier sperm. And track your basal body temperature, either using a tracker like Oura or just a simple BBT thermometer next to your bed. Know when you ovulate so you can optimize your timing. Sweet spot is 1-2 days before you actually ovulate (and remember your BBT spikes a day AFTER you’ve ovulated).
Get your and your man's hormones tested if you haven't already. I know plenty of people that had kids at 38 and 40. You're a little less fertile than at 25 but not horribly so. Enjoy it 😜

I did CoQ10 (Qunol 200mg Ubiquinol), an acai supplement, and red light therapy to improve my egg quality. As I mentioned in another comment, I ended up having PCOS, so I also incorporated seed cycling (in addition to working with my OBGYN) to improve my hormones. Google the things I just mentioned above, you’ll find a lot of research on it! TTC is stressful lol. Wishing you so much luck in your journey!
Love clear blue ovulation tests and Flo - finding out your own ovulation cycle is everything. I have a super long cycle so determining that took time. Having sex before ovulation and then every day to every other day during the window worked well for me; took us 6 months to figure out the groove with our first and got pregnant on the first try with the other 2. Your body should give you signs. I conceived at 36, 38, and 39 / had babies at 37, 38, and 40.
Echo the CoQ10. I also took folate, a prenatal and myo-inisotal or however that is spelled. No clue if it impacted anything. My husband took coq10, macca etc.
