Already spoke with a partner who wanted something done this morning for him to review and then we discuss again. Sent it to him about 4 hours ago. Should take him half an hour to review max. At what point can I check in with him to see when we can catch up so I’m not waiting in the office all day?

It’s a Saturday. If you don’t have anything else to do, say, I’m heading out but should be reachable on my cell.

like

On a long wknd at that. Wtf?

like

Let him know you’re leaving the office and to shoot you an email if he wants to hop on a call to discuss.

Or let him know you’re leaving the office at 5:30, and wanted to check in to see if he wants to discuss before you head out.

like

I’d just say “I plan to log off at 5 to the extent you wanted to discuss today” or something like that

like

This kind of behavior is so annoying…

like

This happened to me. Was waiting for comments and then the partner says he's out for dinner. Ok. Tf?

like

Imagine if you’d give him the same answer… would go down differently

Yet another “benefit” of being in the office! I remember being on the junior end of this many times.

Networking question here. A retired partner at the firm I used to work out reached out to me recently about attending an afternoon during the week (b4 4/30) with one of his long time clients. The partner and I have kept in touch since I joined my new firm and I feel like his invitation is a great networking opportunity since the client (who I have worked with before) is on a number of boards. Torn as how to request off as an S3. Could materialize to nothing but could be good for reconnecting.

Giving notice tomorrow. Accepted another offer. Nervous to tell my boss because I know I’ll be leaving them screwed but I’m miserable. Love my team. The client is stupid and the work is soul crushingly uncreative. But still feel guilty :(

I have a direct report who is smart, passionate about her job and can be really innovative. However she carries this enormous weight of responsibility, for needing to do everything, do it right, make sure it's perfect, not trusting colleagues to help. It creates dread and panic and overwhelming workload and a terrible attitude for her and I am speaking with her this week to start to shift her mindset. Any tips in navigating how to let go of this heavy idea of "responsibility"?

How did you give notice you were lateraling to people you like? Particularly if you haven't been there that long?

I'm lateraling to another firm because frankly I think the management of this one is terrible, but the people (and individual partners) I actually work with are awesome. I've only been here for about 18 months, so I imagine that short time frame will make it extra awkward 😬

If an employee mentions something disparaging or accusatory about their manager during an exit interview, how would you handle? What happens if what the employee said is slanderous and a “he said/she said” situation? If you opt to share the feedback with the manager, would the manager have a legal case against the company or former employee?

What you should do when dealing with a very toxic worker that keep on sending passive aggressive messages to you as well as in group chat and email.
Things like when you answer his question he respond: I know that
Or when he keeps on saying my change requests were just minor in group meeting but actually not.
And keep on saying how hard he works when he clearly wasn’t and already underperformed compared to an intern level.

How to not let this toxic co-worker not poison me any further?
