What is a material billable hours difference from your peers at the same group? If I bill 150 less a year than another associate should I be worried?

When I was a first year I hit 1400 and someone else in my year in my group was at 2700 lol

Fascinating

I don’t think that’s material, no, but it adds up over time if it’s every year.

I am concerned with fulfilling billable hours requirement. I’m required to hit 2100 hours yearly and I’m at ~1,500 hours and I think I’ll hit 150-180hours this month. What will happen if I don’t hit my targeted amount by the end of my year.

I’ve practiced litigation in DC for about 5+ years at a larger plaintiffs’ firm, and am considering a switch to a defense firm. Question: do y’all really love this stuff and understand it? Or are you all on the “fake it til you make it” wave? Looking to change up my MO when it comes to organization. Litigator Hive Mind, how do you guys keep yourselves organized? Do you have a particular system? Looking for more tactile methods (post its, whiteboards, journals, etc.). The whole outlook calendar thing (while necessary) gets very cluttered very quickly and I don’t find it really advances the ball for me much.

How do you deal with a manager / junior partner who is always nitpicking and questioning why you did what you did, or telling you what you did is the wrong way to do things? It’s generally prefaced with them only doing this to help you grow, but has the exact opposite effect on me. And then when you try to explain your POV, you’re tagged as being defensive. Generally ends me with saying I’m sorry. No other partners at the firm have ever raised any concerns on my communications or work product.
