Technology in the Class

Our content filtering recently upgraded and is now blocking YouTube from students. Teachers still have access. QUESTION- does anyone have a work around where teachers can share YouTube w students?

We have the same. My students can view videos that I assign through Edpuzzle.

I assigned a YouTube through Edpuzzle and my students still could not access on school chromebooks. One scholar thought to download the app and alerted us all and we could do that assignment. Now I fear the burn of assigning to other classes and having to deal with it not working.

Should be able to download and share the video on a website like teachertube.

We talked about that, and it’s a great option, except it explicitly states in the YouTube terms of service that downloading (using 3rd party sites) is illegal. Only YouTube videos w the download link on the video (which I’ve never seen?) are downloadable. It’s frustrating cause it would be SUPER easy and fast to even just download the needed videos and share via Google Classroom, if we weren’t breaking the TOS...

Our school system uses a Google process which allows teachers to approve YouTube movies for students.

Record your screen - and then post the recording

We are really working to be mindful of copyright for sure. That is why I don’t want to go directly to the download route.

I use Edpuzzle and Playposit as ways to show Youtube videos without going through Youtube

Can you open a "Guest Browser" or "Igcognito" tab?

The teachers can but students can not.

I just learned about DF YouTube - distraction free YouTube. It’s a chrome extension. Going to give that a try, as we are still trying to figure this situation out!

Anyone know why there are always so many preboards? Maybe it's just me but I've been seeing 10-20 preboards all of apparently good health. Not mad, just curious

Not proud of it, but I was hooking up with a co-worker/friend pre-COVID. I left the state when wfh started and we still talk every day, but nothing romantic. He made it clear at the beginning that he didn’t want to date because we’re co-workers. Stung a bit when I went on a dating app this morning and saw his profile. The rational part of me knows we’re only ever going to be buddies and that if he actually wanted me, then he’d make something happen. Looking for advice on how to get over this.

I just got fired from job as an Account executive at a company for not performing well enough after 3 months (Even though we are still in middle of pandemic in NYC).I want to get into SaaS sales soon. Does anyone have any advice on what do next? where I can find a good company that will invest in my growth & training? Or jobs for sales people that are flexible and have good work-life balance? Want to weigh my options before I jump in the next opportunity

I don’t watch football or care about football, but I’m really sad for the players and disappointed in the NFL. Maybe the players do want to pay, but is it right for conferences to continue with games during the pandemic, given the health risk? These college athletes aren’t even paid. What does everyone think?
