Got an interview request from Amazon for Sr. Digital Marketing Manager. I have been interviewed by and worked for multiple big names like Mcafee, Meta, Microsoft but never by Amazon. I’m wondering how’s their hiring process, what kind of questions and tasks are waiting for me, how many steps are there etc.
Thank you in advance, everyone!

If you’re getting to interviews but not past that then there seems to be an issue with your interviewing style. (Not surprising given it’s been 10 yrs). Do you have feedback from them? Are there common themes?

This shouldn't have even been an issue because you shouldn't be naming clients. I agree that it seems like a pretty minor thing to ding someone on. I don't see some huge insurmountable learning curve there. Sounds like a tiny bump.
But tbh, with the amount of applications these companies get, they probably are able to get 95-99% matches. It's like a top university choosing to reject the 4.0 GPA star athlete that rescues puppies from CA wildfires.
Best advice would be to focus on these 10% of skills/qualities and build out your resume in the next year to fit. If you really want in to specific too companies, it will take some work to figure out their formula and conform.

Was in a similar boat. It’s hard to break into tech from consulting. The sense I got was that tech hiring managers want to see relevant industry experience and proven results (product launch if you’re looking for PM roles) They dislike generalists.
We are highly digital now. Focus is mostly on hands-on people who are very digitally focused. MBA hiring time is over. MBA + Data Architecture or just anything Digital is good criteria nowadays
Anything g besides Data Architecture/Science that’s a big draw?
Honest introspection and feedback from the recruiter/interviewers are the only way you’ll get a real answer to your question
What's your skillset, level and the type of roles you're going for?
So when exactly did the title “Director” mean mid level?
OP, maybe try smaller brands if its more about the work. Your 90% will mean more to them than the big gaints. You we'll still get to do the work you like, competitive pay, and potentially faster growth.

And maybe open the door to an easier transition then from consulting to big tech?
I have over 10 years of consulting (not tech), no industry experience, and was told for some roles/functions, exiting to industry after literally only doing consulting for a long time is actually seen as a negative. As D1 says above, hiring managers want people who have worked in the industry - even if only for a few years - vs. have “consulted” the entirety of their careers for more senior roles and don’t show that they have known, understood, and supported an organization / driven success from the inside. There are some companies that are known exceptions to this rule overall & know how to nurture consultants, and again, I do think this depends on your experience & what type of role you’re trying to exit to.
Can I DM you? I have some questions.
Yes, just sent a dm
Will DM you. I have a few qs.
I know people love to group companies. But they are different firms. MBB is consulting industry and tech is tech. There might be overlap, but they all need different types of skill sets. So are we talking about applying to all of these randomly and see what hits? It needs to be aligned with what you want to do and what value you can add to the firm. It needs to be targeted, specially with product firms.
You may be too ambitious in your target roles at these companies. These are tough companies to break into and with the amount of resumes they get, they get to choose the resume with 99.999% match. I advise you to either build a strong network in these companies and get in with a strong referral or just target other lower brand names.
